I-35 at Oltorf Street

Overview

The project reconstructed the Oltorf Street interchange from south of Woodland Avenue to Woodward Street. Improvements included the reconstruction of the Oltorf Street bridge, improved entrance/exit ramps and frontage roads, new extended entrance/exit lanes for mainlanes and ramps, and the addition of north and south U-turns at Oltorf Street. Bicycle and pedestrian accommodations were also improved along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits.

  • Constructed new auxiliary lanes, or extended entrance/exit lanes, for mainlanes and ramps
  • Added U-turns in both north and southbound directions at I-35 and Oltorf Street
  • Improved bicycle and pedestrian accommodations along the I-35 frontage roads in each direction within the project limits

  • Construction funded by Texas Clear Lanes Congestion Relief Initiative
  • Construction cost: $42.6 million

Schedule

  • Public Open House: December 2013
  • Finalized schematic and environmental documentation: fall 2014
  • Begin Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E): December 2014
  • Complete PS&E: July 2016
  • Construction letting: July 2016
  • Construction start: February 2017
  • Construction completion: July 2020
