I-35 from RM 1431 to FM 3406 (northbound)

Overview

The project improved the northbound I-35 frontage road and exit between RM 1431 and FM 3406.

Need & Purpose

Project Description

• Reconstructed and widened the northbound I-35 frontage road from two to three lanes between RM 1431 and FM 3406
• Constructed a new extended entrance and exit lane on the northbound I-35 frontage road
• Relocated the RM 1431 exit (#256) and extended the existing auxiliary lane, or extended entrance/exit lane

Funding

• Construction funded by the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and TxDOT
• Construction cost: $10.7 million

Schedule

• Finalized schematic and environmental documentation: December 2014
• Begin Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E): June 2016
• Complete PS&E: early 2019
• Construction letting: early 2019
• Construction start: mid-2019
• Construction completion: June 2021
