I-35 from Stassney Lane to William Cannon Drive

Overview

The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive. The frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek will also be reconstructed. New U-turns will be added at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive, and the mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes.

  • Construct new U-turns at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive
  • Widen mainlanes to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes
  • Reconfigure ramps
  • Improve bicycle and pedestrian accommodations
  • Add new safety and high mast lighting

Funding

  • Project development funded by TxDOT
  • Construction funded by Proposition 1, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and TxDOT
  • Construction cost: $78.8 million

Schedule

  • Public Open House: December 2013
  • Begin Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E): July 2014
  • Finalized schematic and environmental documentation: November 2015
  • Construction letting: November 2015
  • Construction start: July 2016
  • Construction completion: January 2022
