This project replaced and widened the bridge structure at Yarrington Road at I-35.

Need & Purpose

• Improve safety and mobility

Project Description

• Construct new widened bridge structure at Yarrington Road over I-35 to accommodate six lanes with sidewalks
• Construct new U-turn bridges in both directions
• Convert two-way frontage roads to one-way frontage roads
• Realign and widen segments of the I-35 frontage roads

Funding

• Construction funded by the Hays County Road Bond Pass-Through Financing Agreement with TxDOT
• Construction cost: $12.2 million

Schedule

• Public Hearing: September 2011
• Finalized schematic and environmental documentation: May 2013
• Begin Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E): April 2013
• Construction letting: October 2013
• Construction start: June 2014
• Construction completion: fall 2016
