I-35 from Stassney Lane to William Cannon Drive
Overview:
The project will reconstruct the bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive. The frontage road bridge over Williamson Creek will also be reconstructed. New U-turns will be added at Stassney Lane and William
Cannon Drive, and the mainlanes will be widened to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes.
 Need & Purpose
- Improve safety and mobility, including addressing:
- Lane merging/weaving on both northbound and southbound mainlanes
- Intersection operations at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive

- Reconstruct frontage road bridges over Williamson Creek
- Reconstruct bridge structures at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive
- Construct new U-turns at Stassney Lane and William Cannon Drive
- Widen mainlanes to incorporate shoulders and extended entrance/exit lanes
- Reconfigure ramps
- Improve bicycle and pedestrian accommodations
- Add new safety and high mast lighting

- Construction funded by Proposition 1, the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and TxDOT
- Construction cost: $78.8 million

- Plans Specifications and Estimates (PS&E): July 2014 - November 2015
- Finalized schematic and environmental documentation: November 2015
- Construction letting: November 2015
- Construction start: July 2016
- Construction completion: anticipated early 2020
