A modern roundabout is a one-way, circular intersection in which traffic flows around a center island at a low speed. A roundabout eliminates some of the conflicting traffic, such as left turns. Because roundabout traffic only enters or exits through right turns, the occurrence of severe crashes is substantially reduced. Other benefits include improved:
- Frontage road traffic flow
Modern roundabouts are proposed for use in two locations throughout the corridor, including 51st Street and Wells Branch Parkway.
