TXDOT WORKS TO PROVIDE MORE TIMELY, RESPONSIVE MY35 UPDATES

As part of its ongoing effort to keep Central Texas travelers better informed, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) implemented real-time incident alerts during its I-35 Expansion Project. The system notifies drivers about lane closures, incidents, and other events that affect their commute. By regularly soliciting input from end-users via surveys, TxDOT has worked hard with the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) to make its Traveler Information System informative and responsive to user needs over the life of the project. | Read More

TXDOT PRESERVES HISTORY AS IT PAVES THE WAY TO THE FUTURE

TxDOT Archeologists James Abbott, Ph.D., and Jon Budd watched and waited for days as construction crews uncovered the old ground surface of the Roberts Cemetery located just outside the community of Troy in Bell County. SECTION 4A: WACO ACCESS ROADS (MLK TO TAYLOR)

LANE CLOSURES

• North-to-south access roads and the turnaround from MLK Blvd. under I-35 at the UPRR crossing have been permanently closed. New access roads and railroad crossing bridges will be constructed to replace them.
• The southbound frontage road turnaround between Forrest St. and UPRR has been closed permanently at Cherry St.
• Forrest St. Bridge is closed.

MILESTONES

• Completed the retaining walls on all four quadrants of the UPRR crossing.
• Completed building the roadway embankment between MLK Blvd. and the northbound frontage road bridge.
• Completed construction of the utility lines along both the southbound and northbound frontage roads.

DOWN THE ROAD

• Complete building the roadway pavement along the northbound and southbound frontage roads.
• Complete installing the manholes, inlets, and lateral lines on both sides of the highway.
• Continue working on the Peach St. connection to the southbound frontage road.
• Continue working on the Cherry St. connection to the southbound frontage road.
• Continue construction of the northbound and southbound frontage-road bridge rails.
• Complete building the roadway embankment along the north and south frontage roads.
