TRAVELING THROUGH WACO ON I-35? "KNOW BEFORE YOU GO" WITH THE WACO REAL-TIME TRAFFIC MAP

TEMPLE RIBBON-CUTTING RECOGNIZES I-35 WORK IMPROVING TRAFFIC, EASING COMMUTES

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES

SECTION 2B: TEMPLE (S. LOOP 363 TO N. LOOP 363)

MILESTONES

  • Completed signal installation and connections at 57th St. and Adams/Central Ave.
  • Began landscape paver installations.
  • Began overhead and small sign installations.
  • Ribbon-cutting held for the opening of the final new bridge (57th St.) and turnarounds.

DOWN THE ROAD

  • Continue construction of the BNSF underpass.
  • Continue installation of the project power grid and roadway lighting.
  • Continue signal work at Avenue H.
  • Continue final striping operations.
  • Open all frontage road lanes.
  • Continue landscape paver installations.
  • Continue overhead and small sign installations.
  • Begin construction on the City of Temple landscape welcome monument at Loop 363.

SECTION 3A-1: TEMPLE TO TROY (N. LOOP 363 TO N. TROY CITY LIMIT)

  • Completed applying the anti-graffiti treatment on bridges and retaining walls.
  • Began establishing trees in the project.

DOWN THE ROAD

  • Complete installing mailboxes.
  • Complete repair of the driveway at Love's.
  • Install the electric meter at Pegasus Dr. (Oncor task).
  • Complete supplying power from new meter(s) to illumination in the area.
  • Complete establishing trees in the project.
  • Complete punch list items.
  • Complete the final inspection.

SECTION 3A-2: TROY TO BRUCEVILLE-EDDY (N. TROY CITY LIMIT TO WOODLAWN RD.)

MILESTONES

  • Began installing the decorative storefront rail at FM 107.
  • Completed installing added areas of concrete and stone riprap for culverts.
  • Completed installing mailbox posts at the northbound frontage road.
  • Completed shaping the ditches on the east side of the northbound frontage road and for the southbound frontage road.
  • Began constructing dynamic message sign (DMS) foundations and the cabinet at the southbound frontage road.
  • Completed applying the anti-graffiti treatment on bridges and retaining walls.
  • Began pulling electrical wires for illumination throughout the project.
  • Began mounting large ground signs L1, L2, and L3.
  • Began installing delineators throughout the project.
  • Began final yard removal and trailer removal.
  • Began erosion control measures and vegetation establishment for remainder areas to cover them at least 70 percent with grass.
  • Completed illumination at FM 107 after railroad agreement received.

DOWN THE ROAD

  • Complete the decorative storefront rail at FM 107.
  • Complete installing permanent signs throughout the project.
  • Complete items on the punch list for minor repairs and cleanup.
  • Install permanent Troy city limit signs, permanent FM107 stop signs and add signs north of the Bruceville-Eddy project to tie in with the north project.
  • Complete DMS foundations and the cabinet at the southbound frontage road.
  • Complete pulling electrical wires for illumination throughout the project.
  • Install DMS services.
  • Complete mounting of remaining large ground signs.
  • Complete installing delineators throughout the project.
  • Complete final yard removal and trailer removal.
  • Continue with erosion control measures and vegetation establishment for remainder areas to cover them at least with 70 percent of grass.
  • Complete the punch list deficiencies for electrical services, striping, etc.

SECTION 4B: WACO 12TH STREET TO N. LOOP 360

  • Completed demolition of 11th/12th St. main structures underpass demolition.
  • Completed filling median north of N. Loop 340.
  • Began work on sewer and water lines on the northbound access road.
  • Began drilling shafts for outside widening and construction of abutments of N. Loop 340 overpasses.
  • Completed installing temporary traffic signals.
  • Began work on driveway access points on the northbound access roads.

DOWN THE ROAD

  • Continue building up the northbound mainlane and shoulder to serve as temporary mainlanes later.
  • Continue work on sewer and water lines throughout the project on the southbound access road.
  • Continue work on sewer and water lines throughout the project on the northbound access road.
  • Continue work on driveway access points on the southbound access roads from N. Loop 340 southward.
  • Continue work on driveway access points on the northbound access roads from N. Loop 340 southward.
  • Complete activation of temporary traffic signals at BUS 77.
  • Continue constructing frontage road detours to shift traffic to reconstruct frontage roads.
  • Continue reconstructing/armoring northbound mainlanes inside shoulder.
  • Begin full-width reconstructing/armoring of northbound mainlanes.
  • Continue resetting temporary barriers and shifting traffic on northbound mainlanes.
  • Continue demolition of BUS 77 approaches.
  • Complete demolition of 11th/12th St. approaches.
  • Continue installing the median barrier north of N. Loop 340.
  • Continue drilling shafts for inside widening of N. Loop 340 overpasses.
  • Continue drilling shafts for outside widening of N. Loop 340 overpasses and construction of abutments.
  • Continue replacement of Culvert 7 (Bellmead ditch) west of I-35 at US 84.
  • Construct shoring columns at BUS 77 to support remaining large structures under the northbound mainlanes when demo work starts at BUS 77.
  • Complete the current phased replacement of Culvert 5 (Waco Creek).
  • Switch northbound and southbound mainlane traffic to the northbound side (similar to how traffic was switched to its current configuration in the 11th/12th St. area).
  • Construct major storm drainage trunk lines along the southbound access road between 17th/18th St. to University Parks Blvd.
  • Construct cul-de-sacs to replace side street intersections along the southbound access road in the 17th/18th St. to 11th/12th St. area.
  • Begin demolition of the 4th/5th St. southbound mainlane structures.
