TxDOT Needs Your Input to Improve the My35 Traveler Information System

Back to Volume 7, Number 6

Once again, TxDOT would like your input on how we can improve the My35 Traveler Information System, which has kept travelers in the Waco District informed with alerts delivered via various media. Knowing more about road conditions and potential alternative routes can help drivers travel more safely and reliably to their destinations while construction is ongoing.

Throughout the development of the current system, TxDOT has solicited input via online surveys from I-35 travelers about the kind of information they’d like to receive and how they’d like to receive it. Recent enhancements to the system based on input from survey participants include first-of-their-kind text alerts and comparative travel signs that inform travelers of route alternatives and their respective travel times. While much of the My35 Expansion Project has been completed, efforts are still under way in Temple, Troy and Bruceville-Eddy. Waco is expected to start construction in a couple of years.

Comparative travel-time signs are one of the latest enhancements to the My35 Traveler Information System.

“Input from the public has been absolutely vital to creating a system that’s meaningful and helpful to travelers,” explains Jodi Wheatley, TxDOT’s I-35 Public Information Officer. “We always want to know how we could be better serving the driving public.”
